Huancayo -
The "insurmountable" city

Huancayo is the capital of the province of Junin and is located approximately 250 km south-east of Lima in the Andes at an altitude of approximately 3,250 meters above sea level. The “insurmountable city”, as the locals affectionately call it because of its history, has around 400,000 inhabitants. Huancayo can be reached by air, road or rail.

Several times a day from Lima

The regional airport Jauja is about 40 km from Huancayo. There are several scheduled flights from Lima every day. The flight time is approximately 30 minutes.

Reach your destination comfortably

The long-distance network with comfortable and safe long-distance coaches is very well developed. The journey, which mostly runs on the single-lane "Carretera Central" long-distance road, takes about 7 hours from Lima.

In a historical way

For adventure lovers and railway enthusiasts, there is also the option of traveling on one of the historic trains. These run at irregular intervals two to three times a month between Lima and Huancayo, travel time approx. 12-14 hours.
